Our Process

SHARE

Our artisans come from four different ethnic groups in Burma: Karen, Lahu, Kachin and Karenni.  Refugee women and migrants. They share their skills, culture and stories with us. We work with approximately 30 artisans.

DESIGN

We design limited-edition, ethically-made homewares, accessories and jewellery that reinterpret traditional textiles and preserve our artisans’ skills. We also collaborate with established designers to create special collections unique to them.

TRAIN

We work directly with our artisan groups - some living in refugee camps, some in migrant communities - to begin sampling our designs or launching a design collaboration. This is where the magic happens...bringing a drawing to life in a tactile three dimensional interpretation. We work collaboratively with our artisans who are eager to share their creative vision and find new ways to reinvent beautiful new variations on traditional themes.

ORDER

We place orders directly with our artisan groups, paying them upfront and paying double the minimum wage.

MATERIALS

We have key artisan leaders who are supported to manage their own groups. These artisans purchase all the threads, notions and materials needed for an order.

MAKING

The artisans set up the threads to weave, and prepare their material for patchwork and applique. They then begin many hours of weaving and sewing.

ARRIVING

Our beautiful ethical designs arrive and we work together with our wonderful photographer, model and volunteers to style and photograph our collections for our website and social media.

PURCHASING

We run pop up stalls featuring our limited edition and ethically made mini collections at various workplaces before Mother’s day and Christmas.
Our Collaborative designs are sold in various shops with various designers.
Wholesale and online orders are processed and delivered.

COMMUNICATING

We share the story of our artisans, independent designer collaborations and supporters’ stories via social media so everyone can share our story.
